Broken Kettle, Watchable Wildlife

Thousands of Iowans enjoy watching wildlife and make it a monthly, weekly or even daily activity around their home or at natural destinations.  According to the Fish and Wildlife Service’s National Survey 48% of Iowa’s citizen participate in some form of Wildlife Watching – that’s a lot of people!

The Wildlife Diversity Program tries to provide opportunities for and encourage Iowan’s to get out and appreciate the wealth of wildlife and natural resources that the state has to offer.  The Watchable Wildlife Guide will give you some ideas of public areas to visit for wildlife viewing and the new Makoke Birding Trail will provide bird fanatics with the hotspots to visit in central Iowa. The Diversity Program also participates in and helps coordinate a number Watchable Wildlife events around the state - checkout our most recent newsletter for a list of upcoming events or the DNR’s Special Events system.
