Brushy Creek State Recreation Area - Webster County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective July 6, 2015, the equestrian trails have been closed due to recent heavy rains. The 12 mile All-Weather Lake Trail remains open. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have been re-opened.
  • RAGBRAI EVENT STOPPING IN FORT DODGE JULY 20, 2015. -- RAGBRAI (Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa) will stop and overnight in Fort Dodge on July 20. The event draws 10,000 bicyclists and spectators. Regular park visitors should be aware that the park could see an increase in visitors due to the event. Traffic getting to the park could also be congested. Campers wishing to camp at Brushy Creek must reserve a campsite or register as a first-come, first-serve camper and pay the appropriate fees. All camping rules and regulations apply including a limit of six people per campsite and one camping unit per campsite or a maximum of two tents per campsite.   • The swimming beach at Brushy Creek will be closed to public access in 2015 for a major beach renovation. The project includes a new road/parking lot, cabanas and a restroom. We apologize for the inconvenience. The Beach Campground will remain open and accessible.

Geode State Park - Henry County
  • CAMPGROUND SHOWER/RESTROOMS AND THE DUMP STATION ARE OPEN: The sewer system and has been fixed and the water is now turned on in the park. However, at this time the Beach Shelter is still closed and will be available for reservations sometime late this summer. Lake Keomah State Park - Mahaska County
  • Lake Keomah State Park will be temporarily closed after the 2014 recreation season to facilitate the reconstruction of the park roadways. Lake Macbride State Park - Johnson County

  • Possible Beach Closures on Weekends and Holidays at Lake Macbride State Park Due to high visitation and limited parking at the beach area, expect a beach closure on weekends and holidays, access to the beach may be closed to park visitors for up to 2 hours. During these times, people in vehicles will be stopped at the park entrance and asked to return to the beach at a later time or asked to visit one of the other beaches in Johnson County such as Sandy Beach, Sugar Bottom, West Overlook or Kent Park. Make weekend and holiday plans accordingly.
Pikes Peak State Park - Clayton County
  • ROAD CONSTRUCTION: The half-mile park entrance road (County Road X-56) from the T-intersection of the Great River Road to the park entrance will be under construction from 4/27/2015 until approximately 7/31/2015. You may encounter delays. (Posted 4/17/2015)
Pine Lake State Park - Hardin County

  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Pleasant Creek State Recreation Area. The drawdown of the lake is scheduled to start around August 15, 2015. The lake should back to normal level by late spring of 2016. If you have any questions, please contact the park office at 319 436-7716.
Shimek State Forest - Van Buren County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAIL CLOSURE: Effective June 8, 2015, the trails have been closed due to wet trail conditions as a result of recent rain. The Wet Weather Trail is open. This bulletin will be removed when the trails have re-opened. (updated 7-7-2015)
Stone State Park - Woodbury County

Union Grove State Park - Tama County
  • A Lake Restoration Project will be taking place at Union Grove State Park. The drawdown of the lake will start around June 1, 2015. The lake should be re-filled by late spring of 2016. During the drawdown period, campsite reservations will be on a first come/first serve basis. Walnut Woods State Park - Polk County
  • The park was closed due to flooding on Thursday, June 25th. For any questions regarding the park closure you may contact Tim Gedler, Park Manager at 515 250-2048. The park will be re-opened on Friday, July 10th. (UPDATED 7/3/2015)

Waubonsie State Park - Fremont County
  • EQUESTRIAN TRAILS CLOSED, effective immediately. Due to heavy rainfall the trails have been closed and are going through extensive repairs. This notice will be removed when the repairs are complete and the trails are open again. Please call the park office with any questions at 712-382-2786.
