Boil Advisory in Effect for Roland
Posted: 08/21/2012
ROLAND – The city of Roland in Story County has issued a boil advisory after a water main break near 115 West Locust Street resulted in a pressure loss for most of the city.

The broken water main is being excavated so that repairs can be made. When repairs and follow-up sampling verifies the water is safe to drink, the boil advisory will be lifted.

Residents should let water boil for one minute and cool before using. They should use boiled or bottled water for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Untreated water can be used for bathing and similar purposes.
