Boating Fatality Being Investigated on Des Moines River

DES MOINES – One person was killed and at least two others were taken to a Des Moines hospital following a collision involving two boats Sunday evening on the Des Moines River.

The two boats collided between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday on the Des Moines River between Second Avenue and Sixth Avenue near the Birdland Marina area.

Names of those involved in the incident were not released Sunday night pending notification of relatives.

The incident is being investigated by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. No further details were available Sunday evening.
