Green Scene Eco-Fair Scheduled for April 19 in Des Moines

DES MOINES – The Iowa DNR Green Team is sponsoring a “Green Scene Eco-Fair“ in the Wallace Building Atrium at 502 E. Ninth St. on Thursday, April 19 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Government agencies and non-governmental organizations will exhibit their ideas, practices and programs for a sustainable Iowa.

Two presentations will be featured in the Wallace auditorium, adjacent to the atrium, during the Green Scene Eco-Fair. Polk County Conservation will present “Rain Barrels” at 11 a.m. and Silent Rivers, a design-build firm, will present “Simple Strategies Toward a Sustainable Home” at 12:30 p.m.

Exhibitors include Iowa Prison Industries, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa DNR State Parks, DNR Financial and Business Assistance, Iowa Family Chiropractic, Little Padded Seats, Community Choice Credit Union, Baby Junk, Silent Rivers – Green and Main Pilot Project, Iowa Environmental Council, Local Foods Connection, Rain Barrels Iowa, Iowa Shares and Iowa Waste Reduction Center.

There will be demonstrations, program information and giveaways. The event is free, open to the public and in honor of Earth Day. Supervised children are welcome.
