BELLE PLAINE – A Belle Plaine man sustained a gunshot wound to the leg while hunting raccoons Tuesday afternoon northwest of Belle Plaine in Tama County.
Christopher M. Pippert, 41, was hunting for raccoons in an abandoned farm house with two other men when a shot from a .22 caliber pistol from one of the other hunters stuck him in the left ankle at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday. It was the final day of the hunting season for raccoons in Iowa.
Pippert was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was being treated for a non-life threatening injury.
