Proposal for new sulfur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide monitors

The Department is taking public input on proposals to modify its long term (“SLAMS”) monitoring network. Under these proposals, the Department would add a sulfur-dioxide monitor near a power plant in the Sioux City area, and a nitrogen dioxide monitor near the I-235 interstate in the Des Moines area. The Department must receive all public comments by 2/13/2012. The plan and comments will be submitted to EPA after a 30 day review period. Comments may be sent to Sean Fitzsimmons at Please include "2012 Sulfur Dioxide Monitoring Proposal" in the subject line of the e-mail.
