A meeting to discuss water quality issues and future restoration efforts at Easter Lake is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Nov. 29, at the South Side Library, 1111 Porter Ave., in Des Moines.
The primary goal of this meeting is to form a steering committee consisting of locally interested residents and stakeholders who will collaborate with government officials on developing a restoration plan for Easter Lake.
In recent years Easter Lake has experienced several water quality issues, including excessive sediment and nutrient delivery from the watershed and elevated bacteria levels at the beach. Several studies have been completed to determine the source of these problems and the results will be used to help develop the restoration plan.
