Keokuk Teen Injured While Pheasant Hunting Sunday in Jasper County

A Keokuk teenager was injured Sunday afternoon when his shotgun discharged into his left hand while hunting pheasants in Jasper County.

Levi Krome, 18, was hunting with another person and was resting with his left hand over the barrel of his 12-gauge shotgun when it discharged at a public hunting area on the north side of Rock Creek State Park at approximately 2 p.m. hitting him in the left hand. He was transported to Grinnell Regional Medical Center and then transferred to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
