DAVENPORT – The DNR is investigating a fish kill on Goose Creek upstream of where it flows into Duck Creek in Davenport Tuesday.

The DNR received a report of dead fish and cloudy water Monday afternoon. A DNR environmental specialist took field tests and water samples Monday night near the intersection of Highway 6 and Eastern Avenue. He saw dead and dying fish along about three-fourths mile of the stream above Duck Creek.

Tuesday, the specialist was looking for a chemical pollutant. Based on field tests, he ruled out manure or sewage as the source of the fish kill. Water samples showed some acidity.

The DNR will continue to investigate the source of the pollution.
