Posted: 06/30/2011

DES MOINES — Regency of Iowa, Inc. has agreed in a consent order with the DNR to complete improvements to a Johnson County mobile home park’s drinking water system and to pay a $7,000 penalty for past violations.

The order addresses violations dating back to 2005 regarding the park’s public drinking water supply. During this time, the DNR issued notices of violation due to high levels of bacteria, lead, copper and radium in the water and lack of public notice about those levels. The DNR also issued notices to Regency for not following monitoring and reporting schedules, and for permit violations.

In the consent order, Regency agrees to complete all construction on improvements at its drinking water treatment facility and to operate the facility in accordance with its water supply operations permit. Regency also agrees to pay a $7,000 penalty.

A copy of the consent order is available on the DNR website at www.iowadnr.gov/InsideDNR/AboutDNR/EnforcementActions.aspx.
