WHO Radio personalities Van and Bonnie will join the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and DMACC to promote fishing during their Friday broadcast as part of Iowa's free fishing weekend. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad is scheduled to attend around 8 a.m.
Iowa residents may fish for free on June 3, 4 and 5, when the Iowa DNR waives the requirement that anglers possess a valid fishing license while fishing.
Van and Bonnie will be broadcasting live from 5 to 9 a.m., in the gazebo on the west side of DMACC Lake. Staff from the DNR's fisheries bureau will be on hand to answer fishing questions and to offer fishing tips. There will be drawings for prizes from Scheels for kids that come out.
The free fishing weekend is for Iowa residents only and all other fishing laws are in effect.
