As a result of a mechanical breakdown of a lift station pump at Wyoming in Jones County, raw sewage began being pumped at 9 a.m. today to a ditch 300 feet from Big Bear Creek.
Although the station is operating with one pump, it can’t keep up with the storm water flow. The broken pump will be pulled and repaired.
The DNR will stay appraised on the Wyoming lift station situation until repairs are completed. The public should avoid this area and stay out of flood waters.
