Wastewater Discharge at Oakville in Louisa County
Posted: 02/20/2014

Lightning knocked out pumps at a wastewater pumping station in Oakville about noon Thursday causing untreated wastewater to flow into a ditch that leads to the Mississippi River.

By 4:15 p.m., an estimated 700 gallons of wastewater had discharged. Crews were working to repair the pumps, but the discharge was ongoing.

City officials expect the pumping station to be back online Friday and are reducing the flow to the ditch with a secondary pump.

The DNR will continue to monitor the situation.
