EPA Extends Deadline for 2010 Federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting to September 30, 2011
Posted: 03/17/2011

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a final rule amending the federal Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting Program. This rule extends the reporting deadline for 2010 GHG data to September 30, 2011. With the amendment, EPA has extended the reporting deadline this year to allow adequate time for the testing and refinement of EPA’s new online GHG reporting tool (e-GGRT) that facilities will use to submit data. This extension will give industry the opportunity to test the tool, provide feedback, and have sufficient time to become familiar with it prior to reporting.

Under the federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, suppliers of fossil fuels or industrial greenhouse gases, manufacturers of vehicles and engines, and facilities that emit 25,000 metric tons or more per year of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are required to submit annual reports to EPA. More information on the rule amendment can be found at http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/extension.html. Questions on the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program can be directed to EPA at GHGMRR@epa.gov. The DNR contact is Marnie Stein, Marnie.Stein@dnr.iowa.gov, (515) 281-8468.
