EPA Extends Reporting Deadline for Federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program
Posted: 03/02/2011

EPA has announced that it intends to extend this year's reporting deadline for the federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program – originally March 31, 2011 – and plans to have the final electronic reporting tool available in late summer. This extension will allow EPA to further test the system that reporters will use to submit data, and give industry the opportunity to test the tool, provide feedback and have sufficient time to become familiar with it prior to reporting.

EPA will provide more detail on the intended changes in the coming weeks and will ensure that this reporting extension is in effect before the original reporting deadline of March 31, 2011.

Under the federal Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, suppliers of fossil fuels or industrial greenhouse gases, manufacturers of vehicles and engines, and facilities that emit 25,000 metric tons or more per year of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are required to submit annual reports to EPA. More information on the program can be found at http://www.epa.gov/climatechange/emissions/ghgrulemaking.html and the Department's Greenhouse Gas website. Questions on the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program can be directed to EPA at GHGMRR@epa.gov. The DNR contact is Marnie Stein, Marnie.Stein@dnr.iowa.gov , (515) 281-8468.
