Minor source facilities located in the central third of Iowa along with portable plants must submit their Minor Source Emission Inventory (MSEI) for 2010 to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) Air Quality Bureau by May 15.
Letters have been sent to all facilities required to complete this year’s report. A complete air pollutant inventory is required by sub rule 567 IAC 21.1(3), and the data collected is used to track Iowa’s progress toward National Ambient Air Quality Standards, perform regional modeling, develop control and maintenance strategies, and identify sources and general emission levels.
MSEI forms and updated instructions can be downloaded from the Emissions Inventory Forms website. Additionally, links for tips, frequently asked questions, inventory tools and exemptions may also be accessed by visiting the Minor Source Emissions Inventory website.
This year, the Iowa DNR will offer Minor Source Emission Inventory SPARS training via webinar. Facilities intending to submit the MSEI electronically are strongly encouraged to attend a SPARS training webinar. SPARS training webinars will be held March 2and March 10. The Iowa DNR will send additional information at a later date regarding registration for the webinars.
Minor source facilities with less than 100 employees may also contact the Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program (IAEAP) at the University of Northern Iowa for free training in order to complete the MSEI. For more information regarding free training through the IAEAP, please visit http://msei.iwrc.org.
