The Iowa Department of Transportation is joining a host of statewide organizations including the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, in support of the state’s fourth Iowa Trails Summit and Family Fun Day Friday and Saturday, June 14 and 15, in Cedar Falls/Waterloo.

The summit, to be held June 14, at the University of Northern Iowa Schindler Education Center, brings together a group of trails and community development experts that will share ideas and innovations that can influence the future of trails, outdoor recreation and economic development in Iowa. Saturday, June 15, will be a free family fun day with outdoor recreation activities open to the public with no registration required.

This year’s theme is “Trails, Blue Zones, and Building a Healthier Iowa.”  Speakers represent a diversity of users, including cyclists, snowmobilers, walkers, paddlers, mountain bikers, equestrians, hikers and four-wheelers.

The master of ceremonies, returning for the fourth year, Chuck Offenburger, hosts a group of some of Iowa’s most interesting experts, and the featured keynote speaker, world famous Charlie Wittmack, sharing his presentation: Committed to the Core – Stories from the World Triathlon.
