Wastewater Bypass at Park View Flows Through Scott County Park
Posted: 04/19/2013

The Park View Water & Sanitary District, near Eldridge, had a valve fail in their main pump station, causing untreated wastewater to flow into nearby Glynns Creek.

Glynns Creek flows north, winding about two miles through Scott County Park, before it flows into McDonald Creek, and then the Wapsipinicon River. Park View is about five miles north of Davenport.

Park View staff estimates 300,000 to 400,000 gallons of untreated wastewater per day is  discharging. City officials say it may take several days before they can repair the valve.

The DNR recommends keeping children and pets away from Glynns and McDonald creeks until 24 hours after repairs are made.
