ANKENY – Protecting the sources of Iowa’s drinking water is the theme for the spring meeting of the Iowa Groundwater Association March 14.
State and local officials will discuss how to protect drinking water supplies ranging from rural water sources to wellheads. Presenters will also highlight four case studies from Iowa towns that have surmounted contaminated sites or other problems.
Discussions on targeting conservation to protect water supplies and modeling water availability are also on the agenda.
The meeting is from 8:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities Office, 1735 NE 70th Ave. in Ankeny. Registration and a continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. If paid in advance, registration is $60 for members, $90 for non-members and $25 for students.
