ONAWA, Iowa – The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will host a public meeting at 6:00 p.m., Sept. 11, at the Lewis & Clark State Park Visitor Center, to discuss plans for the Missouri River Fish Management Office.

The Ringgold Wildlife Area, south of Mount Ayr on the Missouri border, is 2,600 acres of prairie, timber, oak savannas and floodplains with a handful of fishable ponds mixed in.

Missouri and Big Sioux rivers paddlefish fishing season opens Feb. 4

The paddlefish fishing season is open from sunrise to sunset from Feb. 4 to April 30 on the Missouri and Big Sioux rivers. Anglers fishing for paddlefish must have a valid Iowa fishing license, along with a special paddlefish license and unused transportation tag(s).

COUNCIL BLUFFS – Late Wednesday afternoon DNR received a report from the city of Council Bluffs that untreated wastewater had discharged into Indian Creek and then into the Missouri River near Gifford Road in Council Bluffs.
