Snowmobile and off-highway vehicle registrations expire at year's end

Registrations for snowmobiles and OHVs purchased during the 2022 registration cycle expire Dec. 31. Any decal displayed on a machine with a 22 printed on it will no longer be valid for machines used on snowmobile trails, public ice, or the OHV parks. Any registration that is not renewed prior to Jan. 1, 2023, will have a late penalty of $5 applied to the cost of the registration.

Iowans will be registering more than 231,000 boats before April 30, when current boat registrations expire. Boat registrations are good for three years and registration fees go to support water trails, navigation enforcement, aquatic invasive species, and boater education and safety.

DES MOINES, IA— The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Iowa Donor Network launched a new organ, eye, and tissue donor registry on Wednesday, September 4th. The new registry makes it possible for Iowans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors when obtaining a hunting, fishing or fur harvester license.

DES MOINES — As Mother Nature seems to be reminding us lately, this summer marks the 10th anniversary of the historic 2008 floods in Iowa. An interactive online story map from the Iowa DNR helps tell the tale of the devastation, as well as steps needed to prevent damage from future floods.

Since our last training workshop, representatives from manufacturing, grain processing, and utilities worked together with the DNR to simply the Title V application process. An estimated 10,000 Iowa boat owners who were notified that their crafts were assigned a hull identification number by the manufacturer that is not in compliance with the U.S. Coast Guard have yet to verify their HIN with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources before their current registration expires on April 30.

More than 13,000 Iowa boat owners will be receiving a letter soon alerting them that their boat hull identification number (HIN) does not comply with U.S. Coast Guard regulations and they have to verify their HIN with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in order to register their boat.
