New Lake Darling Year-Round Cabins to Open Next Week

The public is invited to check out Iowa’s latest state park cabins at a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday, August 16 at 6 p.m. The six brand new year-round cabins are located at Lake Darling State Park in Washington County.

We have a lot to celebrate with regard to these cabins,” says Todd Coffelt, DNR State Parks Bureau Chief. “Fifty percent of their construction cost was paid for by our Friends of Lake Darling. That level of donation is significant and does not happen every day, so we want to recognize and thank these hardworking, generous partners.”

Each cabin sleeps six, with two bedrooms, a full kitchen and bathroom, deck with Adirondack chairs, heating and air conditioning. Online reservations for the new cabins will be accepted beginning at noon on August 19.

Those interested in attending the ribbon cutting are asked to meet at the cabins which are adjacent to the campground.

Nineteen of Iowa’s state parks have cabins and yurts to reserve. Some are seasonal and some are year-round.
