The Iowa Department of Transportation is now accepting grant applications for U. S Environmental Protection Agency’s Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) grant program. This grant program is eligible for diesel fleets in all 99 Iowa counties.

As part of the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the grant program assists with the replacement of aging diesel equipment in fleets. This includes school buses; heavy- and medium-duty transit buses and trucks; and nonroad engines, equipment, or vehicles.

School districts, transit systems, or company fleet managers throughout Iowa should go to the DERA grant website to read the program information guide and find out more about the grant process.

Applications are being accepted through March 9, 2018, and a total of $205,760 in grant funding is available. Please contact Matt Chambers at 515-239-1409 or matthew.chambers@iowadot.us with any questions.
